After spending about 5 years studying and working in Accounting, I felt that I needed something more challenging and exciting for my life. And as I always has been a enthusiastic for technology, in 2013 I decided to start studying Computer Science, and that decision has driven me to great experiences.
I am working for almost an year as a Full-stack Developer based mainly in PHP, HTML, CSS and jQuery with Yii2 Framework at Elo Jurídico. Besides my course at UFAL (Universidade Federal de Alagoas), I had the chance of spending the years of 2014 and 2015 studying Software Engineering and Web Development at RIT - Rochester Institute of Technology in the USA as part of a international program called Brazilian Scientific Mobility Program which provides overseas scholarship to a selected group of students in Brazil.
Designing and producing software as a user-driven product is what I like most to do, always trying to achieve a clean and understandable code. Real-time applications, RESTful APIs, microservices and Mobile development are things that really interest me.
In my free time, I like outside activities, watching tv-shows (Game of Thrones FTW) and hanging out with friends and family.
As a full-stack developer at Elo Jurídico I've been responsible of creating new pages and features with full functionality (From the data to the view layers), I also have maintained a good part of the system by performing changes and addition of features to the existent pages.
I have also been working with the mobile developers by testing the apps and making changes to the RESTful API. At Elo Jurídico, the technology stack are mainly: PHP with Yii2 Framework, HTML, CSS, SASS, jQuery, and MySQL.
As an assistant, I assisted the students in their development of web pages using HTML, CSS and Javascript.
As an analyst, I performed analyzes, maintenance and control of all elements in the chart of accounts. I worked in the control and elaboration of the balance sheet and other financial reports. Instructed employees and trained/coordinated interns. I also worked in the accounting and taxing departments within 10 different companies in the same group.
As an accounting assistant, I worked by providing consulting to different companies related to the office. I also performed classification and registration of every financial information from each company. I designed Balance Sheet and other financial reports according to the needs or requirements of each company.
The most important academic experience so far in my life. Studying at RIT was the bootstrap for all I've been doing so far. I could have a boost in my English proficiency. I also learned lots of crucial concepts regarding secure software, software testing, web, mobile and software development through a good amount of practical projects, which some can be found on my Github account.
Throughout the course so far I've learned concepts in Math, Physics, Computer Network and Computer Architecture, among others. However, personally the most important classes and fundamentals I have learned are the concepts and practical experiences about designing, planning and developing software.
While studying Accounting, I could learn a lot about the fundamental concepts about the market, most specifically how the companies work and how to manage the financial aspect of every operation. Throughout the course I became able to generate important information so that managers and leaders could make better decisions regarding spending, saving or investing money.
